An overall design plan is a must. Even if it cannot be executed in its entirety immediately, an overall plan provides direction that can be completed in stages which will result in a cohesive look.
The relationship between client and designer must be based upon open communication. The more up front a client is about his or her likes and dislikes, budgetary constraints and lifestyle needs, the more easily a designer and client can begin the partnership a truly successful design project requires.
